I made my reading goal this year much higher and I was a little afraid of how it would work out, especially with a few extra things on my plate.

I’m happy to report, I’m ahead of schedule!

Apparently instead of blogging, I’ve been reading, which really is okay with me. Though I do miss this place.

What I Finished Reading in March

Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy– I have been reading this since February last year and finally finished it! It was a very interesting story, but way too long for me to stay engrossed. Some of it was over my head and I had a hard time keeping track of all the different names. You should definitely hear or read Bonhoeffer’s story, but know that this version is quite long. If you do decide to read it, I would suggest getting the e-book version, as this one gets heavy to carry around.

The Monsters in the Hollows– I have been reading this to the kids for quite a while as our fun read aloud. I have read it slowly, trying to savor the story as long as I can. I just love Andrew Peterson’s descriptive writing and look forward to reading the last book in this series when it comes out in April.

Secret Life of Bees– I’ve had this on my to-be-read list for a while. I decided to read it because we are learning about the civil rights movement for history. It was an interesting story and a good book. Not a favorite, but worth reading.

The Star Garden– I read this because it was the last part to a trilogy. The first book, These is My Words, was great, the second was okay, and this one was just okay too. I recommend just reading the first book and stopping.

Divergent– I finally found someone to lend me this book, since the library is all out, for the next year or so. It has reminiscences of The Hunger Games and The Giver, so I found it very intriguing, though not as good as The Hunger Games in my opinion. The writing lacked details in certain areas and seemed a little choppy. Though the story is entertaining and kept me turning to see what happens next. I’m excited to see the movie and will definitely be reading the next book in this series.

I currently have SEVEN books that I’m in the middle of reading.  I know that seems a little crazy, but here’s how it breaks down. I’m reading two for history read alouds and one for a fun read aloud to my children. Another one I’m reading along with my husband.  An audio book that I listen to in bits and pieces and the other two I’m reading for myself.

Hopefully, I’ll have a few of those finished for April.
