My house is full of books. When I have any spare moments, I love to take that time to read. So, naturally I want to take this hobby of mine and use it to increase my JOY.
Being that I don’t have a lot of extra time for reading, I want to be sure that I am being intentional with what I am feeding my head and my heart. That doesn’t mean I won’t read any fiction books, but they will be the extras as I learn from these following books.
My Bible– I already mentioned I was reading this in Finding Joy in God. It points me to God, the Author of Joy.
Practicing Affirmation: God-Centered Praise of Those Who Are Not God– Words of affirmation are a struggle for me. I have only read one chapter so far, but I have learned some great truths already. Looking forward to learning even more about glorifying God through affirming others, His image bearers.
When I Don’t Desire God: How to Fight For Joy– We all have those times we don’t desire God and this book is a wealth of information on keeping your joy in God. I listened to this on audiobook before, but I am looking forward to actually reading this in real book form. I enjoy being able to highlight non-fiction books so I can come back and skim through it later.
Joy: A Godly Woman’s Adornment (On-The-Go Devotionals)– This is just a little devotional that my husband saw when he was picking up some of these other books for me. I have already found some little gems in this devotional.
Do you have any books I should read about JOY? I would love some more recommendations.

Couldn’t resist clicking on your link when I saw it at the One Word Linkup party. I’m a voracious reader so I’m drawn to titles with “reading” in them. 🙂
I read “Practicing Affirmation” and thoroughly enjoyed it. I think it promotes a great way to DO joy. Hope you find it to be true too as you live out joy this year.
