#15×15 Weekly Check In: This is Hard Work and New Goals

It’s been over a month since I started my #15×15 challenge, so I thought it was about time to step up my challenge. Before I get to my goals I want to share what I’ve been feeling the last few days.

Losing weight and living healthier is HARD WORK!

I do have days that go easy peasy, but other days it is such a struggle.

I struggle with…

  • eating small portions
  • drinking enough water
  • eating the right kind of food
  • buying the right kind of food
  • getting out of bed to exercise
  • finishing my exercise

Yesterday at the grocery store, there was a Caramello calling my name. Chocolate. Caramel. One of my favorite combinations. I held out. I had a cart full of veggies and I couldn’t justify adding that in after working so hard this week. I wanted all that work to be worth it. So, I let it be.

I really wanted that Caramello, but I am so glad I didn’t get. I totally would have regretted it.

Today on my run, I wanted to quit. It was my first 25 minute continuous run and I just didn’t want to run that long. I started. At 5 minutes I started reminding myself that I ran 10 minutes straight last time. I could at least do 10. At 10 minutes I started praying for God to help and give me strength. At 15 I reminded myself I had done 20 straight a week ago. At 20 I thought, I can finish, I only have 5 minutes to go.

I finished. I took some convincing, but I finished.

It felt great to finish. If I wouldn’t have done it, I would have regretted it.

There are times I give in and I usually end up wishing I hadn’t.

So before you give in or give up, remember what you’ve accomplished, remember what you’re working towards. Ask yourself if you’re going to regret this later and if that’s worth it.

And always remember who’s on your side.

Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10

Last Week’s Goals

Exercise 5 days: I did 2 days of C25K, 3 days of Jillian’s Shred-it with weights, and  some extra walking. I just can’t handle running when it’s 75 degrees and hotter at 6am, so I missed my 3rd run this week but I filled it in with something else.

Drinking 72 oz. every day: 3/7 Obviously I still need to work on this. I should probably think about cutting out coffee to help increase my water. Thinking…

Eating good size portions: I did pretty well on this. The night I came home to fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies, I must admit, I had no control.

My New Goals

I’m not going to make totally new goals just change my current ones up a bit.

Exercise 5 days plus 2 hours of walking: I have been trying to add a little walking this past week and it’s been good. I think I can add a little more and it’s a relaxing type of exercise for me.

Drinking 80 oz.: I know I didn’t even accomplish my first goal, but I know this is important. So, about coffee…still thinking…

Eating More veggies and fruit: I do pretty well on eating fruit. Veggies are another story. I want to fill up on these  so I feel better and fill up on the good stuff.

Weight loss this week: 1 pound. That makes my total weight loss for the challenge 5 pounds. Ten more to go…

How did you do on your goals? Do you find being fit hard work?

  1. Good for you for resisting the Caramello! And finishing the run even when you wanted to quit is fabulous! Remember to celebrate those successes. If you find that you’re dreading a workout more and more, try something new and fresh. Something that can actually be fun! I’m a huge fan of Leslie Sansone – the music, her silly laugh and upbeat attitude. Plus I’ve noticed her workouts have increased my stamina when I actually go outside to jog (which is nil during the summer heat in the SE, can’t wait for fall!) An easy way to get an extra 16 ounces of water – I keep a large glass full of water beside my bed. In the morning, I drink it all. I can’t give up my coffee so this will have to do 🙂

    1. Thanks for the encouragement and tips, Carrie. I find that gulping down a cup of water once in a while helps me get enough in too sometimes.
